Sepahan Expects Win against Iraq's Air Force Club
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – It will be a face-off between two confident sides when Sepahan welcomes Air Force Club to the Azadi Stadium for their AFC Champions League 2023-24 Group C tie on Monday.
Iran's Sepahan will expect another win, having defeated AGMK FC of Uzbekistan 9-0 at the same venue three weeks ago, while Iraq's Air Force Club will still be buzzing after its 2-0 defeat of Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad FC.
Sepahan's resounding win against AGMK kept it firmly in the race for a spot in the knockout stage, with the Iran side moving up to seven points.
It has recovered magnificently since collecting only one point from its opening two matches but will be mindful of an Air Force Club side who twice came from behind to force a 2-2 draw when the teams met on Matchday One.
Many would have thought that Air Force Club would have been happy with a share of the points when it hosted reigning Saudi Arabia champion Al Ittihad three weeks ago.
The Iraqi side, however, had other ideas as it dominated the tie, with two of its five shots on target giving them a valuable win and it will be fired up for another three points against Sepahan as it chases a first ever appearance in the knockout stage.
