Yemen Strikes Ship Headed towards Occupied Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen's Armed Forces announced striking a ship en route to the occupied territories and hitting targets within those regions in support of Palestinians in Gaza facing continuous Israeli genocidal war, stating the strikes were acts of solidarity with the oppressed population.

The Yemeni Navy executed a missile strike on what they identified as the "commercial ship MSC United," as revealed in a Tuesday statement by the forces.

"The targeting of the ship came after the crew, for the third time, ignored calls from the naval forces, as well as repeated fiery warning messages," the statement added.

The strikes extended to the port of Eilat in the southernmost part of the occupied territories and "other areas in occupied Palestine," according to the Armed Forces' statement, alluding to the attacks as support for the oppressed Palestinians facing dire circumstances of destruction, siege, and starvation.

The Yemeni forces conveyed their intention to cease targeting vessels if the Israeli regime halted its continuous war on Gaza and lifted the siege on the Palestinian region.

Since the beginning of the Israeli regime's military campaign on November 7, nearly 21,000 people have been killed, the majority of whom are women and children.

Reports indicate that the Yemeni attacks have resulted in a significant economic impact on Israel, causing an estimated threefold increase in the price of imported goods to the occupied territories, amounting to approximately three billion dollars in damages.

The threat posed by the Yemeni Armed Forces to target ships utilizing the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the Red Sea has prompted several international shipping companies to halt sending vessels through this route towards the occupied territories.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen's armed forces, confirmed the targeting of the "MSC United" after multiple warnings were ignored by the vessel's crew. Saree reiterated Yemen's stance on supporting free navigation in the Red Sea but prohibited passage for Israeli ships and vessels heading to occupied Palestinian ports.

Furthermore, Yemeni armed forces, employing drones, reported targeting the "Al-Rashash" area (Eilat) and other regions in southern occupied Palestine.

Addressing the confrontation with the American-Zionist adversary, Yemen's Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Al-Atifi affirmed the country's readiness for all potential scenarios, emphasizing that Yemen prioritizes maritime safety in the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb.

He clarified that all ships except those identified by Yemeni forces—Israeli ships and those carrying goods for the Zionists toward occupied Palestine—will be secure in these regions.
