Iran’s FM Reiterates Resolution of Regional Issues by Regional States

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian underlined that issues and problems in the region must be resolved by regional countries.

Speaking in a meeting with Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan in Yerevan on Wednesday, Amirabdollahian highlighted the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled and unchanging policy regarding the necessity of maintaining international borders and territorial integrity of countries.

He added that regional issues must be settled by the countries of the region.

Amirabdollahian also congratulated the Armenian official on the birthday of Jesus Christ and the new Georgian calendar year.

He further hailed the growing trend of ties between Tehran and Yerevan and referred to moving on the path of increasing annual trade exchanges between the two countries to $3 billion as a sign of elevation of the relations.

Grigoryan, for his, part, said bilateral relations between the two countries are dynamic and at the highest level.

He appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled stances in support of Armenia’s territorial integrity and said Yerevan is determined to enhance and deepen its ties with Tehran.

During his visit to Armenia to discuss issues of mutual interest with Armenian officials, Amirabdollahian met with Grigoryan in the capital Yerevan on Wednesday.

During his visit to Yerevan, Amirabdollahian also met and held talks with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, as well as Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
