Global Outcry As Israeli Ministers Push for Palestinian Exodus from Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – International condemnation erupted as Israeli officials proposed the forceful relocation of Palestinians from Gaza.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, expressed deep concern regarding recent statements made by Israeli ministers proposing the forcible transfer of Gaza's population to other countries.

"Eighty-five percent of people in Gaza are already internally displaced. They have the right to return to their homes," Turk emphasized in a social media post on X, highlighting the fundamental rights of the affected individuals.

He underscored that international law strictly prohibits the forcible transfer or deportation of protected persons within occupied territories, emphasizing the violation this would pose.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry has also “in the strongest terms” denounced Israeli statements advocating the displacement of Gaza's population, denouncing such policies as collective punishment and forcible displacement.

“The foreign ministry confirms that the policies of collective punishment and forcible displacement that the occupation authorities are practicing against the residents of Gaza will not change the fact that the Gaza Strip is Palestinian land, and will remain Palestinian,” it said in a statement.

Israeli far-right ministers' calls for Palestinian displacement and settlement construction were sharply criticized, deemed as further Israeli violations against Palestinians and a disregard for international law.

Meanwhile, the Israeli culture and sports minister, Miki Zohar, dismissed the notion of Palestinians leaving Gaza, labeling it as unrealistic despite certain Israeli aspirations for such a scenario.

Talking to Israeli news site Ynet, Zohar asserted that discussing this subject publicly is unrealistic, considering the clear rejection by the international community.
