Iran, Turkey Emphasize Bolstering Cooperation in Energy Sector

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and Turkey stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations in the oil, gas and energy sectors.

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji visited Turkey to discuss a host of issues including the cooperation between Tehran and Ankara in the field of energy especially the extension of the contract for exporting Iranian gas to Turkey, increasing Iran’s gas exports volume, exporting petrochemical and oil byproducts to Turkey, exploring avenues for Turkish firms' investment in Iran’s oil industry as well as exporting technical and engineering services.

In his meeting with Turkey’s Minister of Energy Alparslan Bayraktar, Owji stated that the two countries have high capacities to expand their cooperation in all fields, especially energy.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is going to visit Turkey on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking political-economic delegation at the official invitation of his Turkish counterpart.

The 8th meeting of the Iran-Turkey High Level Cooperation Council will be held in Ankara during the visit and will be co-chaired by the presidents of the two countries, Mehr news agency reported. 

The 7th meeting of the council was held in Tehran in 2022 following the official visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Tehran.
