Iran Imports $500 Million of Red Meat in 10 Months: IRICA

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – According to the statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), about $500 million worth of red meat was imported into the country in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).

Iran imported about $500 million worth of red meat from March 21, 2023, to January 22, 2024, showing a considerable hike compared to the same period last year, the report said.

Another statistic of the IRICA indicated that about 33,000 tons of poultry meat, valued at $75 million, have been cleared from the customs offices of the country.

Some 56,000 tons of poultry meat, valued at $99 million, had been imported into the country last year (ended March 20, 2023).

It shows that the import of poultry meat into the country has fallen by about 40% in weight during the 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year, IRICA noted.

IRICA added that about 25,000 tons of red meats (light animal), valued at $195 million, have so far been imported into the country, showing significant growth compared to last year’s corresponding period.
