Ending Israeli Crimes Crucial for West Asia Stability, Says Iran's FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, has asserted that the key to restoring stability in the West Asia region is to put an end to Israeli crimes.

Amirabdollahian made this statement during a phone conversation with Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on Thursday.

In the discussion, Amirabdollahian and Borrell covered the latest issues in Iran-EU relations, as well as regional and international developments.

The Iranian minister emphasized that the recent decision by the United States and Britain to attack Yemen had further escalated the regional situation. He pinpointed the Israeli occupation of Palestine as the root cause of the ongoing crisis in the West Asia region.

Amirabdollahian commended Borrell for his positive role in regional and international affairs and welcomed efforts to address differences between Iran and EU countries through constructive dialogue.

Borrell, in response, elaborated on the potential role Iran could play in restoring stability to the region. He expressed concerns about the recent escalation in the Red Sea region and assured Amirabdollahian that the EU's decision to form a maritime coalition aims to protect European commercial ships and does not target any specific country.
