Feyenoord’s Jahanbakhsh Misses Crucial Penalty as Roma Makes It to Round of 16

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Feyenoord’s Iranian winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh, who had only come on for the shoot-out, against AS Roma, missed his penalty.

Mile Svilar emerged as the hero, making two crucial saves during the penalty shoot-out, enabling Roma to once again eliminate Feyenoord and secure its berth in the Europa League Round of 16.

With the first leg ending in a 1-1 draw, featuring Romelu Lukaku’s response to Igor Paixao’s goal, the stakes were high in the absence of away goals rules.

Feyenoord had already faced defeat at the Stadio Olimpico, losing 1-0 to Lazio in November, and its Champions League away campaign saw the team suffers defeat in all three fixtures this season.

AS Roma won on penalties 4-2.
