Loading, Unloading Operations of Goods at Iran’s Commercial Ports Up 4%

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 150 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at Iran’s commercial ports in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024), showing a 4% hike compared to a year earlier.

According to the statistics of Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, 158 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded at the commercial ports of the country from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024.

The report added that 152 million tons of products had been loaded and unloaded at the commercial ports of the country from March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2023, IRNA reported

The Shahid Rajaee and Imam Khomeini ports accounted for the largest amount of loading and unloading operations, with 84 million and 48 million tons respectively.

In this period, 2.614 million TEUs were loaded and unloaded at the commercial ports of the country in the container sector, registering a 10% growth compared to the previous year’s corresponding period.  

The report put the number of passengers entered and exited to/from ports of the country last year at 24 million, showing a 26% growth compared to a year before.
