35th TIBF to Open in Tehran Wednesday
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 35th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair will be launched at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Grand Mosalla (Congregational Prayers Site) on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mahdi Esmaeili.
A virtual exhibition has been launched at www.ketab.ir at the same time to make books available to anyone in the country round-the-clock.
More than 2,610 publishers will participate in this year’s exhibition. In addition, 50,000 foreign book titles will be offered by 60 foreign publishers.
The book fair comprises different sections including children and young adults, general publishers, educational publishers, academic publishers, foreign publishers, digital publishers and the international section.
Yemen is the special guest of this edition of the book fair.
The book fair is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will run through May 18.
The first edition of the international cultural event was held in 1988 with 16,000 titles on show. The cultural event has turned into a landmark book fair in the Middle East and Asia after 34 editions.
Millions of people visit the fair every year, including thousands of university students, scholars, and their families.
