Minister: Italy Ready to Transfer Technology to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Italian Environment Minister Gian Luca Galletti, who is in Tehran on an official visit, announced his country's readiness to boost mutual cooperation with Iran in the field of environmental protection and energy after the removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Iran's Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian in Tehran, Galletti said Italy is prepared to transfer energy and environmental technology to Iran, provided that its nuclear negotiations with six world powers yield "positive" results and lead to the removal of economic embargoes on Tehran.

The Italian minister further emphasized that the two countries are pursuing the common objective of respecting and protecting the environment.

He also pointed to his talks with Chitchian and Head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) Masoumeh Ebtekar, saying that during the meetings, it was agreed that the two countries hold joint seminars and symposiums to pave the ground for closer environmental cooperation.

In his remarks after the meeting with Galletti, Chitchian underlined that closer cooperation with Italy in the area of environmental protection can help resolve the Islamic Republic's problems in this area.
