President Rouhani Felicitates Kazakh Counterpart on Reelection
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday congratulated his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on starting his new term as president of the central Asian country.
In a message to Nazarbayev, Rouhani expressed the hope that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan would expand in all areas.
He also wished health and success for government and nation of Kazakhstan.
Nursultan Nazarbayev has won 97.7 percent of the vote in Sunday's election, securing a new five-year term, according to the Central Election Commission citing early data.
Nazarbayev, 74, has ruled oil-rich Kazakhstan since 1989.
The Central Asian country's marginalized opposition did not put forward any candidates for the election and Nazarbayev ran against two candidates widely seen as pro-government figures.
