Persepolis Beats Bunyodkor to Advance to ACL Round of 16
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis of Iran defeated Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor 2-1 in the last Group A match of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.
A crowd of over 100,000 fans packed into Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
Persepolis captain Mohammad Noori gave the Iranian giant the lead from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.
Sardor Rashidov equalized the match just seconds after the hour mark.
Persepolis put the Uzbek side under pressure and Obid Jurabaev scored an own goal in the 72nd minute.
Persepolis secured second place in Group A after table-toppers Lekhwiya defeated Al Nassr 3-1 in Riyadh.
