Iran to Triple Non-Oil Exports in 10 Years: Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh announced that the country plans to triple the value of non-oil exports by the next 10 years.
The Iranian nation deserves to have more than $50-billion non-oil exports, Nematzadeh said in a meeting with the country’s top industrialists in the northwestern city of Tabriz.
“Based on a strategic plan, we are scheduled to make efforts to triple non-oil exports by the next 10 years,” he said.
“According to this strategic plan, which will be released to the public in the near future, we strive to quadruple the exports in industry and mine sectors in the next ten years,” he added.
Iran has stepped up efforts in recent years to enhance its non-oil exports and reduce dependency on its oil revenues.
Last year, the country’s exports of commodities and natural-gas condensate reached $50 billion, showing a 19 percent increase.
There was also a boom in Iran’s service exports in diverse sectors, including tourism, engineering, and transit.
