Iran to Export Hepatitis, BCG Vaccines to Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Pasteur Institute of Iran (IPI) Mostafa Qanei announced that the country plans to export domestically-made Hepatitis and BCG vaccines to Syria.

Qanei said that during a recent visit by Syria's health minister to Iran, the Syrian side praised the IPI as a well-known institute and announced that a team of medical experts from the Arab country will make a trip to Iran in the near future to receive the vaccines.

He said that the exports of Hepatitis and BCG vaccines to Syria will start soon.

The Iranian health official further pointed to health problems caused for some Syrian children by vaccines Syria had purchased from Turkey, saying that vaccine is among strategic products connected with national security issues and is of high importance.

“Vaccine must be purchased from a friendly country and should be of known origin,” he stressed.

Despite three decades of sanctions, Iran has made great achievements in diverse areas, including science and technology, and has attained self-sufficiency in producing equipment, systems and products needed for the country’s health sector.
