Iran Strongly Condemns Mosque Attack in Sana’a

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham strongly condemned recent terrorist attack on a mosque in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a.

In a statement on Thursday, Afkham expressed sympathy with bereaved families of the victims.

She said that war on different parts of Yemen is aimed at imposing all-out pressure on the country’s Muslim nation and forcing them surrender to the aggressors.

Afkham also pointed to the death of two Red Cross aid workers in Yemen, and asked for the international circles’ effective measures to deal with the catastrophe in Yemen and end daily attacks on the Yemeni nation.

The ISIL terrorist group claimed responsibility for two suicide bombings at a mosque in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a which killed at least 29.

The Takfiri group claimed responsibility on social media for the attacks, which according to Yemeni Defense Ministry officials, wounded dozens of people in addition to those killed.

The first attack targeted Al Moayyad mosque, a pro-Houthi neighborhood in northern Sana’a and the second bombing took place as civilians were trying to help the victims of the first attack, ministry officials said.

This is the fifth mosque attack over the past two months in Sana’a.
