Larijani Lauds Iran-Croatia Parliamentary Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Ali Larijani on Saturday highlighted the capacities of Tehran and Zagreb for the reinforcement of bilateral relations, parliamentary ties in particular.

Grounds are set for enhanced economic, cultural, and scientific cooperation between Iran and Croatia, Larijani said in a joint press conference with his Croatian counterpart Josip Leko here in Tehran.

The two countries have close parliamentary collaborations, the Iranian parliament speaker noted, adding that the capacity will be used for the expansion of ties in other fields.

He further referred to the promotion of academic and art cooperation between the two sides as one of the areas of mutual interest, which will be pursued in the future.

Croatia is one of Iran’s friends and there is a history of cooperation between Tehran and Zagreb, Larijani asserted, expressing the hope that the Croatian parliament speaker’s visit would help enhance the bilateral relations.

Larijani further said that during his meeting with Leko, the two conferred on the ongoing crises and events in the Middle East, including the recent deadly crush in Mina, Saudi Arabia, which claimed hundreds of lives.

Iran is legally pursuing the issue of Mina disaster at the international level, Larijani stressed, adding that measures should be taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

On September 24, a crush of pilgrims in Mina killed around 4,700 people, including 464 Iranians.
