Iran Enters New Phase in Nuclear Activities: AEOI Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi highlighted the country’s progress in its nuclear activities, particularly after a recent nuclear deal with world powers.

“We have entered a new phase in nuclear activities,” Salehi told reporters in Tehran on Wednesday.

“In this new phase, we will be able to witness an expansion in (our nuclear) activities and its acceleration, particularly in the field of constructing nuclear plants,” he stated.

He also referred to desalination of water for those living in southern Iranian provinces as a significant field of activity in future nuclear projects.

“We hope that the AEOI, in addition to maintaining the structure of its nuclear activities, would be able to expand its activities in such fields as health, industry, agriculture, and construction of new plants,” Salehi stressed.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany – also known as the P5+1 or E3+3)  on July 14 reached a conclusion on a 159-page nuclear agreement that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.

Afterwards, the 15-memebr United Nations Security Council passed a resolution that endorsed the JCPOA.

The agreement was officially adopted on October 18, and is going to take effect within the next two months.
