Iran Intensifies Measures to Pursue Fate of Kidnapped Diplomat in Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry intensified its efforts aimed at clarifying the fate of a kidnapped Iranian diplomat in Yemen.

Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday once again summoned the Yemeni charge d’affaires to Tehran to express the country's serious concern over the fate of an Iranian diplomat recently abducted in the Arab country.

On Tuesday also the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said the Islamic Republic will soon send a delegation to Yemen to follow up on the case.

On July 27, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian had said that Tehran plans to send a delegation to Yemen to pursue the fate of an Iranian Embassy staffer recently kidnapped in Sana'a.

“There are initial clues about abduction of Nikbakht, the administrative staffer of our country in Sana’a,” Amri Abdollahian told Tasnim at the time.

He took the Yemeni government responsible for protecting the life of the kidnapped staffer, and added that Yemeni officials have assured Iran that the abducted Iranian diplomat will be freed.
