MP Says Iran Ready for Contributing to Regional Crisis Resolving
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A prominent Iranian lawmaker said on Wednesday that his country is ready to contribute to regional peace and security and help with crises that have defied resolution.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to contribute to resolving crises in the region and establish peace and security there,” said Head of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Borujerdi in a meeting with Boguslaw Winid, Polish undersecretary of State for Security Policy.
Focusing on one significant case of regional crisis, Syria, Borujerdi said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran ever since the beginning of the crisis in Syria was of this logical belief that here was not military solution to the problems in Syria and that the conflict could be ended through a political approach and making use of local capacities.”
Boroujerdi said that the mistakes made by the western governments, particularly America, in the region have led to the emergence of the "malicious phenomenon of terrorism."
“We hope countries that have been fanning the flames of war in Syria and throwing oil on the fire will change their policies and correct their stands towards Syria,” he said.
The Polish Undersecretary of State Boguslaw Winid, for his part, described Iran-Poland relations in various political, economic, and cultural fields as historical and deep-rooted.
He added, “There are lots of potentials for expansion of bilateral relations which need to be utilized... The Poles hold the Iranian people in special esteem and hail the history and culture of this land."
The Polish official also appreciated the Islamic Republic’s constructive efforts in regional issues, particularly those that are aimed at restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He also praised Iran’s campaign against narcotic drugs trafficking into Europe and asked Iran to play a more significant role in regional crisis resolving and to increase its consultations for the purpose.
