Bahrain Regime Bans Opposition Radio Application

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Bahraini regime has banned the Asda radio application for smart devices from broadcasting just days after its launch, in another attempt to suppress voice of dissent.

World

Bahrain's Ministry of Justice imposed the ban earlier this week.

The al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Bahrain’s main opposition group, described the move as contrary to "laws and ethics."

“This is systematic and organized targeting of each and every dissenting opinion to the totalitarian rule in Bahrain”, Al-Wefaq said on its official website.

The opposition group said the ban is illegal even under national law and is yet another indication of Al Khalifah Regime's autocracy and its repression and restriction on freedom of speech.

This ban on freedom of the press and media happens before the eyes of the international community and rights NGOs, that are directly or indirectly concerned, and which are looked upon to take a stance, Al Wefaq added.

Scores of people have been killed and many others put behind bars by regime forces since the outbreak of a popular uprising in Bahrain more than three years ago.

The protesters demand the downfall of Al Khalifah regime and want the establishment of a democratically elected government in the tiny Persian Gulf state.

Pro-democracy rallies are held in Bahrain almost on a regular basis in defiance of the deadly crackdown by Al Khalifah regime.
