FM: Iran, Croatia Should Use Capacities to Boost Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's foreign minister pointed to vast capacities of Iran and Croatia in the economic, trade, commercial, cultural and tourism areas, emphasizing the necessity to make use of such capacities for all-out expansion of Tehran-Zagreb relations.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks on Saturday in Tehran in a meeting with new Croatian Ambassador to Iran Striebor Keric, according to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website.

Zarif underlined the strong determination by Tehran and Zagreb for the expansion of relations. “The exchanges of visits and meetings of Iranian and Croatian officials -including the visit and successful negotiations of Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to Zagreb last year- and continuation of such visits show the serious determination of both sides for expansion of all-out relations,” Zarif said during the meeting.

The Iranian foreign minister also pointed to vast capacities of Iran and Croatia in the economic, trade, commercial, trade, cultural and tourism areas, saying it is necessary to make use of these capacities for the all-out enhancement of Tehran-Zagreb ties.

Striebor Keric, for his part, conveyed the greetings of his country's Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic after submitting a copy of his credentials to the Iranian minister.

Keric further described Tehran-Zagreb relations as progressive and pointed to the abundant potential of the both countries for the expansion of relations. The ambassador reiterated that the two countries should do their best to enhance their relations in all areas, particularly in economy and trade.

After Croatia declared independence in June 1991, Iran became the 7th country to recognize the newly independent Southeastern Europe nation. Since April 1992, the two countries have had diplomatic relations.
