Iranian President Urges Muslim Nations to Unite against Extremism
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani emphasized that Muslim nations should promote cooperation in order to eradicate violence and extremism in the Middle East region.
“We are witnessing inappropriate measures and killings and even civil war in the region and in our neighboring countries,” President Rouhani said in a Monday meeting with Brunei’s new Ambassador to Tehran Hj Mulok bin Hj Jumat.
The Islamic countries should contribute to the promotion of peace, stability and security in the Muslim world, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president emphasized the necessity to strengthen ties between Iran and Brunei as two Muslim countries and said Tehran is keen to bolster bilateral cooperation in all spheres.
Rouhani also commented on a planned visit by Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to Tehran and expressed the hope that the two countries would manage to deepen relations.
Brunei’s new ambassador to Iran, who submitted his credentials to Rouhani, for his part, described relations between the two countries as fraternal and said that during Sultan Bolkiah’s trip to Iran, the two sides would sign agreements in various areas, including education, joint ventures and fight against human and drug trafficking.
