Nigeria Coach Stephen Keshi Steps Down

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Nigeria national football team coach Stephen Keshi resigned from his post after the Super Eagles' exit from the World Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria qualified from Group F, where the team was held to a goalless draw against Iran, edged Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lost to Argentina 3-2.

The African team, who reached the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time since 1998, lost to France 2-0.

Keshi becomes the sixth manager to leave his job during the World Cup, following the departures of Honduras's Luis Suarez, Iran's Carlos Queiroz, Japan's Alberto Zaccheroni, Italy's Cesare Prandelli and Ivory Coast's Sabri Lamouchi.

Keshi has been linked with South Africa coaching role over the past few months, alongside Carlos Queiroz, who led Iran to the World Cup.
