Arsalan Kazemi Joins Sixers in Orlando

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian professional basketball player Arsalan Kazemi joined Sixers and will play with the team’s summer league team in Orlando.

The 6’7″ forward opted to play in his native Iran last year as opposed to coming straight to the NBA. Kazemi played in five games for the Sixers in last year’s Orlando Pro Summer League before going to play for Petrochimi in the Iranian Super League, CBS Philly reported.

Kazemi averaged 13.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for Petrochimi and will represent his country in the FIBA Asia Cup set to take place July 11th through July 19th.

Kazemi will spend the week with the Sixers before joining the Iranian National Team.

“The Sixers are my team,” Kazemi told Sixers.com. “(I want to show them) that I want to join this team during the year and show them what I’ve added to my game.”

"I will play here," he said. "I was with my national team. I traveled into Midway (Chicago) and then came here. I will play in Orlando, and then I have to join them (the national team) again for the FIBA Asia Cup and China."
