Iran’s Omid Norouzi Claims Silver in World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Omid Norouzi of Iran won a silver medal in the men's Greco-Roman 66kg of the 2014 World Wrestling Championships on Saturday.

The Iranian wrestler defeated Davide Cascavilla from Italy 8-0 in Round of 32.

Norouzi beat Germany’s Frank Stäbler 4-3 in Round of 16.

The Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler defeated Bulgarian Konstantin Stas 3-2 and advanced to the semifinals.

Norouzi beat Hungarian Tamás Lőrincz 4-1 and qualified for the final match.

In the final, Norouzi lost to Serbian Davor Štefanek 7-3.

The 2014 World Wrestling Championships started on September 8 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and will finish on September 14.
