No Discussion of Iran’s Missiles in Nuclear Talks: Negotiator

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A member of the Iranian team of negotiators engaged in nuclear talks with world powers quashed claims on Saturday that Iran’s missile capabilities would be raised in the nuclear talks.

Nuclear

The negotiator dismissed as untrue the speculation about the issue of Iran’s missiles as a subject of the nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

He made the comments in reaction to last week’s claims raised by an Iranian lawmaker who said the two sides have reached a compromise to discuss Iran’s missile program in the course of nuclear talks.

“Such remarks are considered as issues seriously threaten the country’s national security,” the negotiator added.

Iranian officials have time and again asserted that the country’s defensive capabilities, including its advanced missile program, will never be up for negotiation in the course of nuclear talks between Tehran and six world powers.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 or E3+3) wrapped up seven days of intensive nuclear talks in Vienna on November 24 without securing a long-awaited comprehensive deal.

The new round of nuclear negotiations will restart in Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday.
