Iran’s Clout Admitted by West: Armed Force

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Armed Forces General Staff said the country has taken such a significant role in the regional and international scenes that even the West has acknowledged Iran's influence.

“The Islamic Republic (of Iran)… is now the flag-bearer of the battle against the global arrogance, in a way that its role in the regional and international developments is today admitted even by the Western officials and institutions,” the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff said in a statement on the occasion of 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The statement also referred to “strengthening of the deterrent defensive power” of Iran as one of the greatest achievements of the Islamic Revolution.

It added that the epoch-making Revolution in Iran led to “fundamental upheavals” in the region by providing support for the anti-Israeli resistance movements and standing against the US.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 36 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Revolution, led by the late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

Every year Iranians mark anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies. February 1, 1979 was the date when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned from exile.

On February 11 each year, Iranian people pour into the streets in their millions to commemorate the great victory of the Islamic Revolution.
