Iran's Army Commander: Regional Events Signify Islamic Revolution’s Influence

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi said the developments in the region are indicative of the fact that the 1979 Islamic Revolution has left major influence on public opinion in the region and world.

In his congratulatory message issued on Sunday, Major General Salehi reiterated the achievements gained by the Islamic Revolution as Iran prepares to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the victory of  the Islamic Revolution.

“Today, the ongoing events in the region and the world indicate the fact that the Islamic Revolution of Iran has crossed geographical borders (of Iran) thanks to the vigilance and devoted management of its wise leader (the late Imam Khomeini) and is now spreading the Islamic and revolutionary culture (across the world) in line with the high goals and causes of the late leader,” the commander said in the message.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 35 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The revolution, spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

On February 11 each year, Iranian people pour into the streets in their millions to commemorate the great victory of the Islamic Revolution.
