Nasrallah Calls Claims about Iranian Meddling in Yemen "A Big Lie"

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah rejected the propaganda that Iran has occupied Yemen as a big lie spread by Saudi Arabia, saying that Tehran has never interfered in the internal affairs of Yemen.

"One of the biggest lies Saudi Arabia has been propagating is that Iran is occupying Yemen," Nasrallah said on Friday in a televised speech aired on al-Manar TV, referring to the propaganda as one of the "false" pretexts behind the Saudi-led aggression on Yemen.

Iran never interfered in Yemen's affairs, he said, adding that even today, Iran does not intervene and Yemenis themselves determine how to deal with the current aggression.

He went on to say that the only solution for the Yemeni crisis is political, "or else the invaders will be defeated."

Saudi Arabia and its Persian Gulf Arab allies have carried out military operations in Yemen over the past days, killing dozens of civilians in Sana'a, the capital, and other cities.

Also commenting on Iran's regional influence, Nasrallah explained that the failure of Riyadh's foreign policy in the past 30 years has prompted the people of the region to turn to Iran.

Iran is an Islamic country that helps the regional nations, the Hezbollah leader said, reminding that it was the first country that rushed to help the Iraqi nation in the fight against terrorists who had waged war on the Arab country.
