Iran's Persepolis Edges Al Hilal in ACL Champions League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Persepolis football team defeated Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the first leg of the AFC Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday.

Salem Al-Dossari gave the visiting team a lead in the 28th minute but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Al Hilal was dominant in the second half and created several chances but Persepolis keeper Sousha Makani made multiple brilliant saves.

The Iranian team nicked a late victory thanks to  a Digao own goal in front of more than 90,000 cheering spectators in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

The Brazilian defender turned Mehdi Taremi's cross into his own net in the 92nd minute.

Two-time AFC Champions League winner Al Hilal will host Persepolis at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh next Tuesday.
