ISIL Turns Syria into Terrorism Lab: Iran's Velayati

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati referred to ISIL as one the most brutal and dangerous terrorist groups in the world, saying that it has made Syria a terrorism laboratory.

"ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant) is a terrorist group that can threaten all countries," Velayati said in a Saturday meeting with the visiting South Korean Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yong here in Tehran.

He added that Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, and the entire world is under the threat of ISIL.

Velayati also referred to the crimes committed by the Takfiri group in Syria, adding that the ISIL terrorists have turned Syria into a laboratory for terrorist operations and committing criminal acts.

Today, the ISIL terrorist group in Syria shows no mercy for anyone- men, women, children,  civilians- and beheads them cold-bloodedly, he added.

He also touched upon Seoul's close ties with some state-sponsors of terrorism, saying it is expected of South Korea to remind them that they should immediately stop supporting terrorist groups.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from the ISIL currently controlling parts of it, mostly in the east.

The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.
