Iran Open to Economic Cooperation with Europe

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed the hope that European countries, eager to broaden economic ties with Iran, would promote cooperation with the country in action.

In a meeting with Swiss State Secretary Yves Rossier in Tehran on Tuesday, Zarif pointed to the European countries’ great enthusiasm for closer ties with Iran, particularly in the economic field, hoping that it would translate into action as soon as possible.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s preparedness to bolster interaction with the regional countries, the neighboring states in particular.

Zarif further highlighted Iran’s “prominent role” in the fight against terrorism and extremism across the region.

For his part, the visiting Swiss official touched on the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and called for enhanced relations between Tehran and Bern on the mutual, regional and international issues.

Rossier’s visit came days after Iran and the six major world powers on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear program.

The text of the comprehensive nuclear deal would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.

The comprehensive nuclear deal and subsequent termination of anti-Iran sanctions would also result in a hike in Iran's trade with the world and increase foreign investment in the country.
