In his first visit to India after the landmark nuclear agreement, the Iranian foreign minister will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss various regional issues and expansion of bilateral ties, The Times of India reported.

The report added that Zarif will also hold talks with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

Also, the Iranian foreign minster is planned to meet with India’s Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to give a leg up to the Chabahar port project which is crucial for India's access to central Asia.

Zarif will arrive in India on August 13 as part of his second regional tour following the July 14 conclusion of nuclear negotiations.

He is scheduled to visit Lebanon, Syria, India, Pakistan, and Russia in his regional tour.

In his first tour in July, he visited Kuwait, Qatar, and Iraq, where he held talks with their highest-ranking officials.

Zarif’s tours come in the wake of the conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Iran and the six powers on July 14 finalized the text of a lasting nuclear deal that would terminate all anti-Iran sanctions after taking effect. The United Nations Security Council also unanimously passed a resolution afterwards, endorsing the comprehensive accord.
