Iranian Women Win Gold Medals at West Asian Karate Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian women have won four gold medals in the West Asian Karate Championship underway in Sharjah, the UAE.

Neda Rezaei won a gold medal in the women’s single Kata competition after defeating her Emirati rival.

Team Kata Iran consists of Parvaneh Ghasemi, Sudabeh Ghasemi and Mahnaz Akhoundzadeh also won a gold medal in the competition.

In the women’s +68kg weight category, Hamideh Abbasali defeated an opponent from the UAE and claimed the gold medal.

Nafiseh Golshani also snatched Iran’s fourth gold medal in the competition.

She finished in the first place in the -68kg.

The two-day West Asian Karate Championship for men and women, being held in Sharjah.

The event saw the participation of 115 players from the teams of host UAE, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, and Lebanon.
