Iran Welcomes Increased German Investments: EC Secretary
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei said on Wednesday that there is a serious resolve for economic cooperation between Tehran and Berlin, but at the same time asked Germany to be more courageous in making decisions.
Tehran welcomes the promotion of its economic ties with Berlin, Rezaei said, urging Germany to show more courage in making its economic and political decisions.
He made the remarks in a meeting with German Ambassador to Tehran Baron Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg in the Iranian capital.
“Iran is serious for investments and economic ties with Germany,” Rezaei said, vowing that Tehran would spare no effort to facilitate German investments in the country.
He also noted that “a golden opportunity” is now created for closer relations between Iran and Europe, saying that Europe would have the best chance to make economic relations with Iran within the next 4-5 years.
The German envoy, for his part, welcomed frequent visits by German economic delegations to Iran, and noted that the recent conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers will pave the way for Germany’s reinforced investments in Iran.
Back on July 19, a 100-strong German delegation, headed by Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel, arrived in Tehran to meet with top Iranian officials and hold talks on ways to boost economic ties.
The visit came days after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear energy program.
The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
