Iran’s Larijani: Yemenis to Emerge Victorious in Unequal War with Saudis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani deplored the Saudi regime for its continued onslaughts against the defenseless people of Yemen, expressing confidence that the Arabian Peninsula nation will finally defeat the “evil regime”.

Speaking Saturday in a meeting in Tehran with a Yemeni delegation headed by Chairman of High Council of Yemen’s Revolution Naif al-Qanis, Larijani condemned the Saudi government’s “unprecedented” war crimes in Yemen, describing the Saudi regime as “an evil regime” in the Middle East.

“Evidence shows that the Saudi regime has committed many crimes in Yemen resulting in the destruction of (the country’s) infrastructure and the death and injury of thousands of innocent people,” he noted.

The Iranian parliamentarian further pledged Tehran’s support for Sana’a, saying that the Yemeni nation and their problems are of great concern to the Islamic Republic.

Qanis, for his part, said that the Yemeni people will never forget the Islamic Republic’s stance on Yemen.

He further asked the Iranian authorities to pave the ground for transfer of injured Yemenis to Tehran given the lack of medical supplies in the war-stricken country.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by a coalition led by the Saudi regime for months.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies, including the UAE, began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to Yemeni health ministry, the death toll from the Saudi-led war so far has reached more than 6,000 people, including 1,277 children and 1,041 women.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The aerial strikes have also targeted dozens of hospitals and ambulances.
