Iran Comes 14th at IPC Athletics World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran finished in 14th place at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships.

Iran wrapped up the competitions with 13 medals (four golds, seven silvers and two bronze medals).

Iran’s Mohammad Khalvandi (javelin F57), Mohsen Hosseinipanah (put F35 ) and Siamak Saleh Farajzadeh (shot put F34) and Saman Pakbaz (discus F12) claimed three gold medals respectively.

Sajad Mohammadian (shot put F42), Ali Mohammadyari (discus throw F56), Saman Pakbaz (shot put F12), Erfan Hosseini (javelin F13), Mohsen Kaedi (shot put F34), Peyman Nasiri Bazanjani (1,500m T20) and Ali Olfatnia (long jump T37) have won six silver medals.

Mohsen Kaedi (javelin F34) and Abdolrasol Mirshekari (javelin F46) have also claimed two bronze medals.

China topped the final medals table in Doha with a total of 41 gold, 26 silver and 18 bronze. Russia, who topped the table two years ago, finished runner up with 24 gold, 21 silver and 24 bronze. The USA was third, Great Britain finished in fourth place and Tunisia took the fifth spot.

A total of 1,815 athletes and athlete support personnel passed through the anti-doping education booth, run by anti-doping experts from the Qatar Anti-Doping Commission (QADC) over nine days of competition.
