Iranians Win 2 Bronzes at World Junior, Cadet & U-21 Karate Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Seyed Ali Karimi and Sara Bahmanyar claimed two bronze medals in the 9th World Junior, Cadet & Under-21 Karate Championships on Friday.

In the Cadet Kumite Male -57 kg, Karimi defeated Russia’s Daniil Chepurnov and Germany’s Merlin-Leo Schaefer and lost to Ebrahim Seifeldin from Egypt in the semi-final.

The Iranian athlete defeated Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Alassiri in the bronze-medal match.

In the Junior Kumite Female -48 kg, Sara Bahmanyar defeated Wai Fongman from Macau 4-0. She defeated Anna Sokk from Estonia but lost to Esraa Abdelkader from Egypt.

Bahmanyar beat Rebecca Cichrova from Slovakia and claimed a bronze medal.

On Thursday, Fatemeh Sadeghi had won a silver medal in the Cadet Kumite Female -47kg.

The championship hosted 1441 athletes from 91 countries in Jakarta, Indonesia.
