In a recent meeting between a high-ranking delegation from Germany and representatives of Iran Chamber of Commerce Industries and Mines in Kerman, the initial deal was inked and it was agreed that the final contract to build the four power plants be signed by the next month.

During the session, attended by the German ambassador to Iran and the governor general of Kerman province, the two sides agreed to make final arrangements for the construction of the solar power plants with German investment.

According to the initial agreement, a solar power plant will be set up in Kerman Province’s city of Mahan, two others in Rayen and another power plant in Yazdanabad District in Zarand County.

Iran has recently unveiled plans to diversify electricity generation from the plants that use renewable energy sources, such as wind or solar power.

The country’s electricity industry ranks 14th in the world and first in the Middle East in terms of electricity generation by having an installed power generation capacity of 67,806 MW.
