Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi and Finland’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka in a meeting in Tehran discussed plans to boost science and technology collaborations between the two countries.
Farhadi said Tehran and Helsinki can launch academic and research cooperation in wood industry, agriculture, information technology (IT) and aerospace industry, among others.
He also proposed that Iranian and Finnish universities could offer joint courses on architecture and arts.
For his part, the visiting European minister voiced Finland’s willingness to expand scientific and technological relations with Iran.
Toivakka heads a big delegation of Finnish officials and industry owners in the visit to Iran.
The trip comes against the backdrop of growing interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.
The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
