Iranian MPs to Visit Nuclear Sites on Tuesday

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A number of Iranian lawmakers plan to visit the country’s nuclear facilities in Arak and Fordo on Tuesday.

Several members of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission plan to tour the country’s Arak heavy-water reactor and the Fordo nuclear facility on Tuesday.

The visits to the nuclear facilities are in line with efforts to monitor the implementation of the recent nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers, also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

According to a law that requires the Iranian administration to safeguard the nation's achievements and nuclear rights, the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has a duty to monitor “the proper implementation” of the JCPOA, and is required to submit a report on the issue to the presiding board of the parliament every six months.

Tehran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 or E3+3) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA, a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The nuclear deal would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
