IAEA Chief to Visit Tehran Sunday: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief Yukiya Amano will travel to Tehran on Sunday to hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani following the implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal with six world powers, a report said.

"The discussions will focus on the IAEA’s role in verifying and monitoring Iran's nuclear-related commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action," the Vienna-based IAEA said in a Saturday statement.

During his trip to Tehran, Amano is also scheduled to sit down with Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi, the statement added.

Late on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini  announced in a joint statement that the implementation of a nuclear deal finalized by Tehran and world powers back in July 2015 has officially been started.

The announcement was made after the IAEA confirmed Iran’s commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
