Iran Owes Its Progress to Islamic Revolution: Syrian Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Syrian deputy minister lauded the Islamic Revolution in Iran as a genuine one that enabled the Islamic Republic to make great technological and scientific advances.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Syrian Deputy Information Minister Ali Abdullah al-Ahmad said the 1979 revolution in Iran portrayed the beautiful image of Islam to the world.

The Islamic Revolution institutionalized liberty and independence in Iran and enabled the country to make major political decisions, he added.

The Syrian official also praised the Islamic Revolution for ushering in a system that elevated Iran’s position in science and technology.

Iran’s headway in sciences like aerospace, nanotechnology, nuclear energy and genetics, which require well-supported institutions and firm planning, are signs of a civilized government that has been correctly founded and has the potential for progress, he added.

Ahmad also hailed the Islamic Revolution for creating a strong link between Iran’s national security and that of the other free countries in the region, like Syria, and those who can draw a distinction between friends and foes.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.

Every year on February 11, millions of Iranian people of different social strata, carrying flags and banners in support of the Islamic Republic, pour into the streets in nationwide mass rallies to commemorate the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
