Solhipour Wins Iran’s Second Gold at IPC Powerlifting World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Seyed Hamed Solhipour bagged Iran’s second gold medal at IPC Powerlifting World Cup on Thursday.

In the men’s up to 88kg, the Iranian powerlifter seized a gold medal lifting 232kg.

Egypt’s Hany Abdelhady came second with 231kg and bronze medal went to the United Arab Emirates’ Mohammed Khamis Khalaf who lifter 227kg.

Furthermore, in the men’s up to 97kg, Iran’s Saman Razi secured silver with 222kg, Egypt’s Paralympic champion Mohamed Eldib claimed gold with 243 and Ukraine’s Anton Kriukov snatched bronze (221kg).

Iran’s Hamzeh Mohammadi had won a bronze medal in the men’s up to 65kg weight category.

On Wednesday, Majid Farzin also took a gold medal at the men’s up to 80kg weight category.

More than 200 athletes from 40 countries compete at the IPC Powerlifting World Cup in Dubai, the UAE, from 15-19 February.
