Weightlifter Saeid Mohammadpour Undergoes Elbow Surgery
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian weightlifter Saeid Mohammadpour has undergone surgery on his left elbow on Friday.
“Saeid has missed this summer's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. I think he will return to the field after one year. He underwent successful surgery to repair his left elbow,” Iran Weightlifting Federation's doctor Davoud Bagheri said.
The 105kg weightlifter dislocated his elbow while attempting to lift 190kg at an event in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in October.
Mohammadpour had already missed 2015 IWF World Weightlifting Championships due to the injury.
Mohammadpour won a bronze medal in the men's 94kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships in Paris, France in 2011.
