IRGC Cleanses Iran’s Western, Northwestern Borders of Terrorists

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour on Monday highlighted the measures taken by the IRGC along the Iranian borders it controls, saying all such areas have been cleansed of terrorists in recent years.

“Massive military operations and extraordinary engineering projects carried out in the past few years in the country’s northwestern, western, and southeastern borders by the IRGC Ground Force have resulted in the establishment of sustainable security in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s borders,” Pakpour noted.

He made the remarks in a meeting with high-ranking IRGC Ground Force commanders, officials, and staff held here in Tehran.

“Today, we can proudly declare that … all of the country’s northwestern and western border areas, for which the IRGC Ground Force is responsible, have become free from terrorists,” he went on to say.

“Our soldiers have permanent presence in such areas,” the Iranian commander added.

Pakpour had earlier stressed that full security prevails along Iran’s borders thanks to the IRGC’s presence and successful operations in recent years.

The ongoing security conditions at Iran’s borderlines are incomparable with the past, when terrorist and anti-Revolution elements were being fought off inside the country’s territories, the commander said earlier in February.

Since 2011, when Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei ordered a plan for sustainable security at the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders, the IRGC forces tightened grip on those areas, constructed many border posts, and forced intruders to stay out of the country, he added.
