Persepolis, Esteghlal Win in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Title contenders Persepolis and Esteghlal defeated their rivals in the Iran Professional League on Friday.
In Ahvaz, IPL leader Persepolis defeated struggling Esteghlal Ahvaz thanks to a brace from Jerry Bengtson.
The Honduran striker scored in the 55th and 86th minutes.
In Tehran, Esteghlal defeated Foolad 3-0 at the Azadi Stadium.
Omid Ebrahimi opened the scoring for the Blues in the 8th minute and Behnam Barzai extended the lead five minutes later.
Jaber Ansari made it 3-0 in the 36th minute.
Furthermore, Gostaresh Foolad and Esteghlal Khuzestan played out a goalless draw in Tabriz. Rah Ahan defeated Padideh 3-1 and Saipa lost to Malavan 3-2 in Bandar Anzali.
Persepolis stays at top of IPL with 51 points, three points ahead of archrival Esteghlal.
