Envoy Reaffirms Iran’s Backing for Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon assured the Lebanese government, nation and armed forces of the Islamic Republic’s unwavering support in the fight against Takfiri terrorism and the Israeli regime’s aggression.

The Iranian diplomat Mohammad Fathali held meetings with senior Lebanese officials in Beirut on Tuesday on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Arab country’s victory in the 33-Day War of 2006 against the Israeli regime.

In a meeting with Lebanon’s defense minister, Fathali hailed the army, the nation and Hezbollah as the key factors in Lebanon’s stability and security in the face of threats posed by the Takfiri terrorist groups.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting the Lebanese government, nation and armed forces in dealing with the foreign threats, particularly the Israeli regime’s aggressive policies.

In a separate meeting with Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces Jean Kahwaji, the Iranian ambassador described the Lebanese “army, resistance movement and nation” as the three pillars of that country’s territorial integrity and dignity in the region.

In July 2006, Israel launched a war on Lebanon. About 1,200 Lebanese, most of them civilians, were killed in the 33-Day War.

Hezbollah fighters defeated the Israeli forces and Tel Aviv was forced to retreat without achieving any of its objectives.

The conflict also known as the July War took place in Lebanon, north of Occupied Palestine and the Golan Heights.
