Russian Deputy FM Due in Tehran Wednesday: Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov is scheduled to pay an official visit to Tehran on Wednesday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials, Russia’s ambassador to Tehran said.
Levan Jagarian told Tasnim on Tuesday that Ryabkov will arrive in the Iranian capital on Wednesday to exchange views with high-ranking Iranian officials on various topics.
During his stay, the Russian deputy foreign minister is planned to sit down with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi, the envoy added.
One of the topics expected to be discussed by Ryabkov in Tehran is implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Tehran and world powers.
Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA, an agreement on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program which took effect on January 16, terminating all nuclear-related sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Ryabkov was a chief negotiator at the talks that led to the deal.
